For just about every prospect in the 2023 class, this travel season if all goes as planned and as we all hope will be the first time Division 1 coaches will be able to get on the road to evaluate them. As usual, there are plenty of talented prospects in the Peach State in that class who will see their stock rise rapidly throughout the summer.
There are a few prospects around the state who have already started receiving high-major offers throughout the season. Our RYZE Hoops staff predicts which 2023 prospects in Georgia could be next to attract that level of attention.
Jelani Hamilton (Cumberland Christian)
His size in the backcourt will draw a lot of attention as he’s 6-foot-5 and can play all three positions on the perimeter. He’s a playmaker that can hit shots out to three-point range who is really good in the transition game.
Tahj Johnson (Hart County, pictured)
It won’t take long for college coaches to get excited about Johnson when they see him this summer. He’s one of the best athletes in the country in his class at 6-foot-6 and routinely throws down highlight reel dunks. He can hit a mid-range jumper and is working towards expanding that range. It’s the upside that will likely get him a high-major offer sooner than later.
Lamariyon Jordan (Dacula)
Jordan is another wing with real size at 6-foot-5. He has good athleticism and can score it at all three levels, which he showed on Tuesday night going off for 35 points. He competes on both ends. Don’t be surprised to see his name surge up the rankings over the next several months.
DK Manyiel (Greenforest Christian)
Manyiel will require some patience, but as he fills out his 7-foot frame and rounds out his skill level, he has a really high ceiling. He’s a true rim protector with great mobility and he’ll finish in traffic. Keep an eye on him this summer with Team Forrest.
David Thomas (Eagle’s Landing)
Several of his peers at guard in the 2023 class already have the high-major offers, but don’t let that fool you. Thomas can play with the best of them. He’s a relentless competitor that can really score it however you want it. He’s having a great sophomore season at Eagle’s Landing and look for that to continue this summer with Team Huncho.
